Re: We Buy Any Car - anyone used this service?
We had a quote from them once, a few years back, which we felt was way under what we could get.
Sorry I can’t remember quite what it was.
We then got a few emails from them over a couple of weeks upping their offer.
In the end we found another company offering the same “service” whose quote was much better and they were not at all bothered by dents and rattles when they came; paid the full whack and it was very easy.
Sorry to be so vague, but I suggest looking for similar companies that do the same thing.
HTH.
God, perhaps I shouldn’t have bothered!
Good luck.

WBAC are an online retail acquisition platform for the BAC Group, who are the largest auction house operator
It is phenomenally successful and as a business concept, faultless

Just cons.

My 91 year old auntie used them to sell her old Skoda. They told her they would give her £1500 but she had to get it to them.

So she drove it to Brighton from her house in Hove and they had a look over it and said we can only give you £500 now we have seen it. They are fucking con men in my opinion.

Anyway she let them have it as she was packing up driving but I wouldn’t use them EVER.

Re: We Buy Any Car - anyone used this service?
I used them about 5 or 6 years ago.

I was about to get a Friends and Family lease deal from Hyundai where my son-in-law was working at the time.

A few months before I was due to take delivery of the lease. I had got a quote WBAC for my Prius and I thought I could do better. So I thought I'd wait until I had the lease and then sell my car privately.

Just before I was about to take delivery of the lease I went back online to WBAC and much to my surprise the offer had gone UP by £2000. Which pretty much matched my expectation. So I went for it. All went smoothly apart from as someone has already pointed they tried to knock off a couple of hundred upon an inspection which I negotiated down.

Curious as to how come the price had increased from earlier in the year, after settling on a price I got talking to the inspector as to why that was the case. And it is simply that WBAC. bases its initial online quote on average prices for types of cars that week. Since I first got a price the Government had made an announcement about electric cars and although it didn't really apply to my hybrid it had been enough to push the demand up at auction,

Anyway I was happy with the price and the money arrived in the bank the next day job done.

It was stunning and brave of Phil to lie to his wife and kids for decades whilst ploughing the chutney furrow.

If you have a good retailable car in good condition, they’ll pay you the money, if you turn up in shit bucket that you want out of because mechanically or cosmetically it’s about to give out then they will quite rightly lowball you.

It’s a business not a charity.

In my opinion they actually pay over the odds for good cars. I couldn’t believe the price my Dad got for his Land Rover it was only 1-2k less than retail. Money in his account same day and no messers offering money from African bank accounts.

In the small print it says you have to let Phil Schofield stick his wrinkly old sweetcorn encrusted maggot up your exhaust pipe.

Speaking of PHIL, how the hell is he still in a job when he's been grooming boys as young as 17?

I have worked with the automotive sector for years so hold a knowledge of how things work, which is useful
When shifting my wife's car I went through WBAC and it was a seamless, swift transaction, paid out within 24 hours and at more than fair price way ahead of other offers
But then again, as always, knowing the correct words and using them at the correct time helps

Re: We Buy Any Car - anyone used this service?
What the others said, I declared a car to them honestly, when I arrived they dropped the value to a third because it had once been SORN, they knew that in advance, I told them what I thought of that and drove to the nearest scrapyard, quite happy to take a loss, on principle. The scrappy's first offer was a fair bit more than WBAC's first offer and paid in 20 notes there and then. I walked home rather pleased.
